Short Sports Education

Many Years Ago I Was A Speaker In A Youth Camp. When The First Game Of The Team Arrive Of The Leaders Began By Quoting A Parable Based On Genesis 1-3. He Described The Joys Of Playing Games In The Garden Of Eden Where The Emphasis Was On The Joy Of Playing. But One Day The Serpent Entered The Garden And Tempted The Inhabitants Of Eden With A Point Of View. They Gave In To Temptation And Began To Score Points In Their Games And This Led To All Kinds Of Evil - Competition, The Desire To Win, Cheating, Anger And Fighting. They Have Lost The Simple Joy Of Playing. The Leader Told The Parable To Inform Young People That This Week At The Camp They Will Be Introduced To Non-Competitive Sports. No Points, No Winners Or Losers, Just Fun To Play. But There Was One Major Problem - The Games Were Completely Boring And Completely Boring. Every Day There Are Fewer Young People Appearing During The Game So That Eventually There Will Be Fewer Young People There. Does This Accurately Reflect The Theology Of Sportsmanship? Obviously, I Don't Think So. I Would Like To Introduce A Short And Comprehensive Theology Of Sports. If You Don't Like The Article You Might Think About It Like, "Why Should We Watch The Super Bowl!" What Is Its Relationship Or Manifestation Of Creation, Of Fall, Of Redemption? When I Look At The Issue Of Sports, I Would Add Two Other Words To Broaden Our Thinking - Human Condition And Salvation (Both Of Which Are Related To Creation, Fall And Redemption). Creation - God Could Have Made Everything Gray And Functional. Instead, He Created Great Variations In Color, Size, Shape, Smell, Texture, Sound, And Taste. Why Did He Do That? He Made It So That Creation Could Be A Reflection Of His Personality And, More Important, His Goodness. It’s A Work Of Art And Form. Creation Is A Work Of Art. Art Is Sometimes Thought To Consist Of Two Genres: Visual Arts - Such As Painting, Sculpture, Art, And Craftsmanship, Such As Drama, Music, Dance. The Lord Incorporates Both The Art Of Observing And Acting In Creation. Visual Art: Flowers, Mountains, Trees; Making Art: Seas And Rivers, Planets, Clouds. Other Elements In Creation Include These Two. Sports Is A Symbol Of This Creative Work Of The Lord. They Also Combine Visual Arts (Painted Fields / Stadiums, Group Colors And Logos) And Performing Arts (The Game Itself). Sports Shows Work And How To Build. There’s A Beauty In A Game That Runs To Perfection, To A Well-Thrown Ball, To A Catch, To A Double Play. These Things Can Bring Joy And Happiness Because They Are A Reflection Of The Way The Earth Was Created. They Are An Art Exhibition (Or Art, If You Like). The Lord Also Created Things In A Certain Order, Not In An Orderly Way, And He Set Within The Laws Or Laws Of Nature By Which Nature Works. Sports Also Have An Order In Them And Have Rules That Apply To Them. Just As There Are Consequences For Violating A Created Order (Such As Ignoring Gravity), So There Are Consequences For Disobeying Rules In Sports. Sports Reflect The Nature And Principles Of Nature. As In Nature, This Show, When Done Well, Glorifies The Lord And Gives The Followers Joy. Fall - In The Fall, Man Rebelled Against Sin And The Curse Created By That Fall Affects Every Part Of Everything - Nothing Escapes. This Means That We Can Expect To See Evidence Of A Fall In Sport And, Of Course, We Do. There Are Sins Of Attitude And Sins Of Action. The Most Deadly Of These Sins Is Idolatry In Sports - Where It Occupies A Very High Place In The Love Of The Heart And In The Mind Of The Mind. When Life Is Organized In A Game Or When The Whole Idea Of A Person Is Affected By Whether His Team Wins Or Loses, He Has Crossed The Line Into Unhealthy And Sinful Behavior. There Are Also Other Negative Attitudes - When Winning Becomes The Only Thing That Matters, When One Is Going To Do Whatever It Takes To Succeed, When One's Reputation Is At An End, When People Are Proud Or Angry. These Are All Sins Of The Fall. Fall Is Shown In Sports With Actions Such As The Use Of Steroids, Fixing Games, Ancestral Bats, Bench-Breaking Conflicts, And Many More. Being Human - We Are United Beings And Enabling The Body Ensures That Our Bodies Are Above The Containers Of Our Souls. Even Our Eternal State Will Have Bodies - Glorified Bodies But Bodies Anyway. The Christian Life Is Not About Giving Up The Body But About Bringing It Into Obedience To The Glory Of The Lord. Sports Is One Of The Things That Helps Us To Do That. Playing The Game Requires Discipline And Physical Discipline In Sports That Can Extend To Our Spiritual Health. Sports Require Determination, Delayed Recreation, Physical Fitness. Sports Can Also Teach You How To Work With A Team, How To Be Submissive To The Authorities, How To Encourage Those Who Are Not Naturally Treated Like Others, And How To Beat Them Hard. And They Teach Patience. Even Time On The Bench Can Sanctify. Sports Are One Way To Honor The Truth And Human Existence And To Glorify God By Using Our Bodies In Ways That Honor God.
